Davis High School Celebrates New Stadium Plans

DAVIS, CA - High school homecoming football games are always special to the players and the fans who come to watch.

But this year's homecoming game at Davis High School will be extra special - not only will the new king and queen be crowned, the school will unveil a brand new stadium.

Monday morning Halden Field received a makeover. A new rubber all-weather track and durable synthetic turf will replace the old dirt and grass field.

The Davis Joint Unified School District will cover most of the $1.5 million project. The rest of the money will come from private fundraising and donations.

Ron Brown of Brown Construction graduated from Davis High School in 1980 and feels wonderful to come back and help out.

"This impacts so many different lives in our community and to just make it a much safer facility for everybody and the students, it's just a great opportunity," said Brown.

Monday was the start of phase one of the remodeling process. Stage two will begin in March 2010.
